Visitation ban has been lifted for Lakeside Health System with the exception of visitors to the Birthing Center. That restriction is still in effect and will be reevaluated on an on-going basis.

Due to an increase in influenza cases over the past week, Lakeside Health System has instituted a temporary restriction that prohibits visitors under the age of 18. This policy will be re-evaluated on an ongoing basis.

Kathleen Fink and Joanne Thomas have been nurses in the emergency department at Lakeside Memorial Hospital for years. Now they are Certified Emergency Nurses (CENs). To take the CEN exam, the candidate must hold an up-to-date, unrestricted RN license or nursing certificate.

Lakeside Health System has been named a top performer in a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Premier healthcare alliance value-based purchasing (VBP) project that rewards hospitals for delivering high quality care in five clinical areas.

Nancy Plews has been elected as Chairperson of Lakeside Health System.  Plews is Kodak’s Worldwide Director, Operational Excellence, Prepress Solutions and has been a part of the Health System board since May 2006.  Through her role at Kodak, Nancy has introduced the management of Lakeside to the Lean/Six Sigma principles, resulting in visible, sustained, award winning quality improvements throughout the Health System.

Lakeside Memorial Hospital has been named to the nation’s Most Wired Most Improved Hospital according to the results of the 2009 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study released today in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine.
